Founded in 1884 the School became a Charitable Trust in 1975. The Governors pursue a continuing commitment to provide a well-resourced school with small teaching groups. The Staff consists of 16 teachers, all qualified, with additional qualified assistance in the Pre-Prep Department, and a full time School Nurse. The School is pleasantly situated on the borders of Epping Forest, well served by public transport, and is surrounded by 7.5 acres of grounds with two playing fields, two large all weather areas for cricket nets, basket ball and five a side football and an open air swimming pool.
Children move on, at various ages, to local and more distant HMC Schools, to local grant maintained grammar schools and to other local Schools. Children at 13+ are prepared for Common Entrance and similar exams, including scholarships.
The buildings include specialised facilities for Computing, Music, Science and CDT/Art room. There is a large new six classroom block, Assembly Hall and Library for the 4 to 7 year olds. The 3+ Nursery has its own base and facilities. Games include rugby and Association Football, Cricket and Athletics, coached by experts. The School is currently building a 4 court Sports Hall. The St Aubyn's School Society provides a positive vehicle for contact between the School and parents.
